Michael Berendt, Ph.D.  

Board Chair

Dr. Berendt is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the life sciences industry. He has served on multiple private and public company boards, including the Waters Corporation. He has worked as a life sciences consultant and investor in various executive management positions.

 

As a venture capitalist, he was a Managing Director with Research Corporation Technologies and AEA Investors. Dr. Berendt also worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry, holding several senior management positions, including Senior Vice President for the Pharmaceutical Division of Bayer Corporation and Group Director of Drug Discovery at Pfizer. His experience is well established from a management, scientific, business development, and financial perspective.

 

Dr. Berendt earned his B.S. in Biology from Ohio Dominican College, an M.S. in Microbiology from Miami University and a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from The Hahnemann Medical College.

Eric Keller, J.D.

Member of the Board

Eric Keller is a proven business and legal executive with nearly 30 years of experience in life sciences-based companies. In addition to his role as Founder and CEO of Retension Pharmaceuticals, he is the Founder and CEO of Redux Therapeutics, a therapeutic asset acquisition and development company as well as Retension’s sister company, Response Pharmaceuticals.

 

As CEO of Nano Terra, a Boston-based nanotechnology company, Eric led the acquisition of Surface Logix and the subsequent out-license of three Phase 2 small molecule drugs, including RezuRock, now owned and marketed by Sanofi, and RTN-001.

 

Eric is also the Co-Founder and Head of Strategy at C2Sense, an MIT-based medical diagnostic company, and is the Executive Vice President of SGH2 Energy Global, a developer and operator of biogenic waste-to-green hydrogen projects. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Noveome Biotherapeutics, a pioneering secretome therapeutic development company, and served as Strategic Advisor and Chief Business Officer of SipNose, an Israeli company focused on direct nose-to-brain delivery of drugs for a variety of CNS disorders.

Eric is a graduate of Harvard College and Boston College Law School.

Donald Olds, M.B.A, M.Sc.

Member of the Board

Donald Olds is a seasoned executive, entrepreneur, and director with vast operational experience in research and clinical development. He excels in raising public and private capital for diverse companies, focusing on technology and life sciences.

 

Previously, Donald served as President and CEO of NEOMED Institute, where he successful led the merger with CDRD. Donald held multiple executive positions in private and public life sciences firms. With extensive corporate governance expertise, he currently serves as the lead director and audit committee chair at Goodfood Markets, director and HR/Governance committee chair at Acasti Pharma, lead director and audit committee chair at Cannara Biotech, chair of Aifred Health, and director and audit committee chair at Agrinam Acquisition Corp.

 

Donald received his B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia, M.Sc. in Renewable Resources from McGill University and M.B.A. from McGill University.

C.R. Sincock II, M.B.A.

Member of the Board

C.R. Sincock is the founder and managing partner of Transhuman Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in the biotechnology industry for over 10 years. He is also the founding investor and senior strategic advisor of Kriya Therapeutics, Inc., a leading gene therapy company focused on developing long-lasting treatments for chronic diseases.

 

C.R. began his career in financial services at QVT Financial LP. He has also served as President and CEO of Avflight Corporation, which offers fixed-base operator and ground handling services across major aviation segments. C.R. has held board positions at Evecxia Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for obsessive compulsive disorder and depression, as well as National Air Transportation Association, Alder Renewables and AIRCO. He is a member of the National Business Aviation Association Advisory Council and currently serves as the President of Avfuel Corporation, a leading global supplier of aviation fuel and services.

 

C.R. earned his A.B. in Economics from Harvard College, an M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Franklin Berger, M.B.A.

Member of the Board

Franklin Berger has over 25 years of experience in capital markets and financial analysis. Mr. Berger worked at Sectoral Asset Management Inc., an investment management firm, as a founder of the small-cap focused NEMO Fund.

 

Prior to that, Franklin served at J.P. Morgan Securities, a securities brokerage company, most recently as Managing Director, Equity Research and Senior Biotechnology Analyst, and served in similar capacities at investment banking firms Salomon Smith Barney and Josephthal & Co. He serves on the Council of Rockefeller University and was a Founding Fellow of the Biotechnology Study Center at New York University School of Medicine. Franklin also serves on the board of directors of Satellos Biosience Inc., and Kezar Life Sciences, Inc. He has previously served on the boards of ESSA Pharma Inc., Rain Therapeutics, Inc. Atreca Inc., BELLUS Health, Inc., Tocagen, Inc., Proteostasis Therapeutics, Inc., and Five Prime Therapeutics, Inc.

 

Franklin holds a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University and M.B.A. from Harvard University.
